Review and Giveaway: Crazy about the Ninja 3-in-1

December 21, 2012

Regular readers to this blog know that I’m a terrible cook; I’m talking heated fish fingers and turkey burgers here.  So, when I got an email from a publicist asking me if I wanted to try a fabulous new easy cooker, I said, “heck, yes!”  The Ninja 3-in-1 arrived in October and it’s changed my life.  Correction: our lives.  I like to cook now.  Which means dinner is no longer painful for ALL of us.

Meat and spinach lasagna. I have made this 3 times-it's a solid hit.

So, what is the Ninja 3-in-1? It’s a slow cooker, oven, stove top and a steamer.  I love that you can sear, saute and then leave. As in, ciao baby- I’m going out!

And, I’m not the only one who digs this machine:

Stephanie of http://crockpot365.blogspot.com. She looks positively in love, right?!

Lesser known fans are:

  • My dad watched me cook in it this fall and asked for the Ninja for Christmas (Merry Christmas, Dad!).
  • I bought an extra one at Target and the checkout woman was apoplectic that I was buying her favorite new appliance. She was practically drooling when she told me about her favorite Ninja recipes of lemon cupcakes, chocolate mousse and angel food cupcakes (guess she loves her sweets…).
  • I brought it over to my friend’s house to cook this week. I would call her a semi-professional cook as she teaches cooking classes, so I value her opinion. She went gaga over the perfectly cooked one pot meal we made of chicken tenders with quinoa and edamame …..in 10 minutes. She is getting one for Christmas now too.
  • Light Kiwi Angel Food Cupcakes that the checkout women was raving about.

This little thing is pretty darn amazing, but it’s just that it’s not so little. You need some good counter space for this thing. So, move over juicer, blender (keep your toaster for darn’s sake), and make room. It’s totally worth it.

I just made these pulled pork sliders. They didn't look this nice, but there were delicious and super moist.

Here is what I love:

  • It has “Triple Fusion Heat” which means you can make things three times as fast as you can in a slow cooker or pan. I make lasagna in 20 minutes and poached chicken breasts in 10 minutes. Do you know what freedom this means for parents?! You can come home and make a delicious dinner in 10-20 minutes!
  • Oven settings go up to 425 which means I don’t have to use my oven- at all.
  • It steams so I’ve made poached salmon and the most delicious pot roasts and chickens. Nothing dries out because of the steaming process.
  • It sears and cooks. So, when you want to roast a chicken- sear it on the stovetop setting for 5 minutes on each side, then load all your veggies, a little broth and seasoning and then switch over to the cook function for 1 hour. Pull the chicken out but leave the broth inside and make your sauce right there. Only one pan to clean after all this.
  • It cleans well because the pot is a non-stick surface.
  • It holds a whopping 6 quarts. I put a 6 pound pot roast in it, and had room for lots of vegetables too.
  • It keeps food warm for up to 12 hours.

You can find some great recipes on their website to help you get started, but I recommend getting the cookbook, there’s just so many recipes in it.

I’ve been bitten by the bug: I want all the accessories now, especially the muffin pan and baking kit.

Okay, enough, right?

I do love that my husband keeps wondering who that woman in the kitchen is.

Here is the giveaway:
