Kids Music Listings this Weekend: August 5,6,7

Check out Tres Leches world-infused folk music with classy harmonies on Saturday.

If you want some sweet sounds, consider heading to the popular Fort Greene music group, Tres Leches’ free performance this Saturday. If a heartier sound tickles your fancy more, then Saturday’s concert by the 5 dad band, Starfish, might be your thing. Celebrate Brooklyn is celebrating the Caribbean community with a reggae performance by Meta and the Cornerstones, an art-making activity and a party of dance from the region hosted by DJ Spice. Friday August 5th

11:00 am: Drum Beats & Little Feet
Little movers look at artifacts, many of which feature figures in interesting poses, and create their own music and dances.

6:30 pm: Sunset Jam on the Hudson
Little ones can join in on a riverside drumming circle led by masters of the art. Kids will learn traditional drumming patterns and African, Latin and Caribbean rhythms. Instruments provided.

6:30 pm: MoonDance Featuring the George Gee Swing Orchestra – Hudson River Park’s Pier 84
Learn how to swing dance like a pro; lessons courtesy of Dance Manhattan beginning at 6:30pm, live bands go on at 7pm.

6:30 pm: Target Passport Fridays: Dominican Republic – Queens Museum of Art
Bring a picnic blanket out to Flushing Meadows Corona Park for the Target Passport Fridays at the Queens Museum of Art International Outdoor Film, Dance and Music Series. This week we celebrate the Dominican Republic. The dance and music program featuring Ballet Folklorico Group of the Father Billini Associatio and Chepe & su conjunto tipico begins at 6:30 pm.

7:00 pm: The Alex Levin Trio’s Friday Night Jazz Shows
At this weekly jazz jam, children under 16 can bring their own instruments and let loose alongside the band for a few tunes.

Saturday August 6th

11:00 am: Tres Leches Show
Tres Leches creates world-infused urban folk music for people of all ages with exquisite harmonies and accompaniment. The trio’s sublime voices combine beautifully to create a harmonic synergy that draws in any listener.

1:00 pm: Astoria Park Shore Fest
Astoria Park Shore Fest will block traffic on Shore Blvd for the length of the park, providing a waterfront setting for its music, food and family activities happening over the course of three Sundays.
