Trail Blazer Camps

Trail Blazer Camps, the nation's second oldest American Camp Association-accredited program, is located on 1100 forested acres in Sussex CountyNJ (transportation from NYC included). Campers between the ages of 8-17 live in family-like groups of nine children in their age group and three group leaders at each campsite, which comprise five canvas-covered shelters, a covered table for rainy day projects, a latrine that is cleaned daily, and a campfire circle. The rustic living is part of the excitement and challenge at Trail Blazers! All campers participate in a wide variety of outdoor and adventure based activities and prepare for an expedition on the Appalachian Trail or theDelaware River, called "Vagabond." The Vagabond is a trip by foot, bike or canoe and a chance for campers to use the wilderness, survival and group skills they have developed, test the bonds they have formed with their group members and achieve a sense of pride and accomplishment. These trips vary in length depending on the age of the campers and for most campers are the highlight of the Trail Blazers experience.
