Brooklyn Players’ Summer Program has been running a small, intimate, and nurturing four-week musical theater program for young people aged 8-13 (entering 3rd through 8th grades in the fall) since the summer of 2002.
In the fall of 2005, Brooklyn Players started hosting performing arts classes during the school-year on a trimester basis in Corinne Goodman’s home on 7th Street in Park Slope for four year-olds through adults. All classes are small with individualized attention in a cozy, professional and nurturing environment. We pride ourselves on teaching everyone – the shyest beginner to those heading towards a singing or theatrical career.
In addition to being creative artists and gifted teachers, the staff at Brooklyn Players have all been trained to support young people to flourish in a non-competitive environment. At all Brooklyn Players classes and activities, students are taught not to tease or put anyone down, including themselves. This creates a safe and thoughtful environment, where students learn to try things they don’t think they’re good at, as well as take risks to further develop their strengths.
Brooklyn Players Community Musical Theater was started in the fall of 2010 to give older teens and adults the opportunity to be in a nurturing and non-competitive artistic community that collaborates to put on shows with heart and fun.
