Mini-Makers Open House at Stories Bookshop + Storytelling Lab (Park Slope)
Monday May 15th 1015-11a. There will be a free open house on Monday 5/15. For 6-18m with grown up. 5 week session starts 5/22. An introduction to art making and storytelling for Stories’ youngest visitors (ages 6-18monhts)! We’ll explore process and material while introducing the elements of art through stories, play, songs, and baby-friendly projects. Come discover new ways to engage your little one in the artistic process alongside other budding artists! All week there will be free open house classes. See website for more information.
Toddler Yoga at the Park Slope Brooklyn Public Library
Mondays until May 22nd 11-1145a. Free. Join Kelly Brennan for some fun on the yoga mat! Toddlers will explore yoga poses and breathing in a playful way through adventures, stories, games, and songs. This class is designed for any toddler who is a strong walker. We kindly ask that caregivers are attentive and quiet during the class. Caregivers are invited to participate as well! Class size will be limited to 25 participants. Tickets will be provided at the desk when doors open.
Movie Monday presents “Moana” at Riverside New York Public Library (UWS)
Monday May 15th 330p. Free. A mythic adventure set around 2,000 years ago across a series of islands in the South Pacific. The film follows the journey of a spirited teenager named Moana as she meets the once-mighty demi-god Maui, and together they traverse the open ocean, encountering enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds.

Support Group at diaperkind (Gowanus)
Tuesday May 16th 11a-1p. $10 per person. No charge for current diaperkind service families. Babies are always free. Please register here. No drop-ins, please. You spend your pregnancy educating yourself and preparing for your new addition. But what happens when the baby is born and suddently everything you thought you knew goes out the window? If you find yourself having a harder of a time with your cloth diapers than you thought you would- don’t stress! We are here to help. Come to one of our support groups for hands on assistance. We also open our support groups to childcare providers. We’re happy to help you show your baby’s new caregiver the ropes! See website for other Support Group meetings.
Bike Helmet Fitting & Distribution at Central Brooklyn Public Library
Tuesday May 16th 3-630p. Free. Come join us for a free helmet fitting and distribution event on Tuesday, May 16th from 3pm to 6:30pm on Central Library’s Plaza in anticipation of Bike the Branches. The helmet fitting is provided by New York City Department of Transportation. Note: You must be present to get a helmet and you must learn how to properly fit it. A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a waiver for children under age 18. Adults over age 18 receiving a helmet must sign a waiver.
Adam Rubin + Daniel Salmieri: Dragons Love Tacos 2 at Books Are Magic (Cobble Hill)
Tuesday May 16th 4-5p. Free. Dragons + Tacos + Books = the best party ever! Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri, the awesome dudes behind Dragons Love Tacos, are here to celebrate all things tacos with a special reading of Dragons Love Tacos 2. CityParks PuppetMobile: Cinderella Samba at Red Hook Recreation Center
Wednesday 1030-1130a. Free. For all ages. Cinderella Samba is a contemporary twist on the classic “Cinderella” fairy tale. The CityParks PuppetMobile production sets the timeless tale in the lush landscape of Brazil, where, thanks to the help of her fairy godmother, Cinderella attends Rio de Janeiro’s biggest Carnaval gala and dances the samba with Prince Paulo himself. After Cinderella is forced to flee the gala just before midnight, the prince sets out to find the mystery woman who stole his heart, in hopes of marrying her.
Bilingual Toddler Time (Mandarin & English) at the Seward NYPL (Lower East Side)

Come and join Jessie and Sun for Bilingual Toddler Time every Wednesday at 11:30a.m. We will sing songs and nursery rhymes and read stories in Mandarin and English, Babies and toddlers from 18 months to 4 years old with their parent/caregiver are welcome to attend. Kids’ Discovery Stations at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Tuesdays-Fridays until June 2nd 1015a-1215p. Free with Garden admission. This is a drop-in program for schools and families with children of all ages. Get your hands dirty at kids’ discovery stations throughout the Garden. Investigate and classify plants, touch a carnivorous plant and learn how it eats, or go on a monarch and milkweed exploration in the meadow! All programs are outdoors and canceled in inclement weather.
May Backyard Schedule at Norman & Jules (Park Slope)
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 930a-2p and Wednesdays 930a-430p. $10/child. Our backyard is intended for ages 6m to 6y. We do not offer drop-offs. Caregivers must be with their children at all times.
Aleph Bet Ship Exhibit at the Jewish Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Starting Tuesday May 2nd 1-3p and ongoing Mondays-Thursdays 1-3p & Sundays 12n-4p until June 15th. Free with Museum admission. For ages 2 and older. Youngsters will go on an ‘underwater’ journey to discover the Hebrew “Aleph Bet” letters, while playing the role of captain, with hats, ship barrels, and a captain’s wheel. Throughout the trip, the young captains will get to explore and experiment with aleph bet letters by shaping letters in sand, playing a magnetic matching game with fish along the ocean wall, relaxing with a variety of aleph bet books in the reading nook, exploring the letters in a giant jigsaw puzzle, and sending the letters up in a wind tunnel.
Free Bike Mornings on Governors Island
Monday-Friday 10a-12n until September 29th. Free Bike Mornings allows visitors to borrow a free bike from Blazing Saddle Bike Rentals for up to one hour every Monday-Friday from 10 AM to noon. Learn more about bike rental here.
The Princess, The Emperor and the Duck at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre (Central Park)
Tuesday-Fridays 1030a & 12n and Saturdays & Sundays 1p until September 17th. Tickets are $8/children and $12/adults. A modern retelling of three classic Han Christian Andersen tales. Set in Africa, China and our own Central Park, The Princess, The Emperor, and The Duck retells storyteller Hans Christian Andersen’s world-famous fairy tales — The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor’s New Clothes and The Ugly Duckling — bringing the Theatre to life with new marionettes and hand painted scenery. Guided by a narrating Owl, audience members fly into each story with the original tales that teach important life lessons still relevant to children today.
Triangles, Squares and Circles, Oh My! at Private Picassos Studio (Park Slope)
Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays 1015-11a until June 22nd. For 18-48 mos. $28/drop-in (space permitting). Young artists will explore shapes, color and strengthen their fine motor skills through a variety of 2-3 dimensional art materials. By focusing on a specific color or theme each session, children will build their skills with drawing, collage, painting and small-scale sculpture.
Drop in Play at SPARK by Brooklyn Children’s Museum (DUMBO)
Wednesdays 1-5p, Thursday 1-6p (admission is free Thursdays) and Fridays-Sunday 1-5p. $15/child. (BCM Passport Members enjoy free admission). Each day at SPARK, kids can: BUILD IT! Design your own structures in our popular exhibit Brooklyn Block Lab. MAKE IT! Creativity abounds in our art activities that change each week. TOUCH IT! Get cozy in our Discovery Den featuring soft play and reading space, and a series of discovery drawers that hold treasures from our collection as well as tactile materials for little hands to explore.

You can enjoy our playspace as a DROP IN (pay as you come), with our PLAY PASSES (pre-pay visits), or have a MEMBERSHIP (unlimited visits for 1 month). Juguemos a Cantar Drop-In Play Space offers a social learning environment that includes exploration and interaction for kids 0 to 4y. A large, clean, well-equipped, airy indoor play area full of fun, music, a play kitchen, blocks, trains, doll houses, working bench, tools, puppets, soft play area, ball pit, books, craft table, & more. Twinkle Playspace (Williamsburg)
Monday-Friday 10a–6p and Saturday-Sunday 8a-1130a. First Time Pass – $25 (only for the first time). $35 for additional visits. Memberships also available. Located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Twinkle’s 4500 square foot play space has innovative custom-made exhibits to cater to any child’s wildest imagination. These special exhibits, designed for the under 6 crowd, are a harmonious blend of urban life and nature that encourages the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of a child in an accessible, high-quality learning environment. Twinkle hosts open play 7 days a week and children can also have an unforgettable birthday with exclusive use of our playspace! Twinkle is a socks-only environment so please keep this in mind for children and adults entering the playspace. Parental supervision is required at all times, no drop-offs allowed. Open Play at Curiosity on Court (Cobble Hill)
Monday-Friday 10a-6p & Saturday-Sunday 9a-6p. Open Play drop-in: $25 per child, $45 for 2 siblings, $6- for 3 siblings. Weekday monthly passes and pass packages also available. Welcome to Curiosity on Court, a world of energy busting excitement! Our custom designed play structures and exhibits were created to raise the curiosity and fuel the imagination of kids 1–10 yrs old. Whether they’re conquering our climbing wall, taking a ride on the subway, making connections on the magnetic wall or finding their route through our multi-level play structure, there’s hours of fun for everyone. Ed Center in Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5p and also Saturdays and Sundays from 1–5p. Free. The Ed Center is open for free, drop-in hours three afternoons a week! Get to know Brooklyn Bridge Park with our 250 gallon aquarium filled with critters from the East River, a 10’ scale model of Brooklyn Bridge Park, crafts, a reading corner, and much more!
