Williamsburg Northside School Presents “Into the Garden” Summer Camp!

April 17, 2017

Williamsburg Northside Summer Camp is proud to offer a fantastic summer camp for children ages 2 through 5. This camp is open to ALL children, not solely those currently enrolled in the school.

The camp is holding a special informational session on April 19. Register here to attend.

“It is a happy talent to know how to play.”—Ralph Waldo Emerson

Experience the wonder and magic of summer that is Camp at Williamsburg Northside Schools! Fun-filled days outside in our rooftop garden and outdoor classroom are balanced with the consistency and routine that helps our youngest children thrive. Seasoned Northside teachers treat all children with the respect and care on which WNS prides itself in a distinctly Reggio Emilia inspired program. Experimentation, exploration and creativity are encouraged within beautiful environments. In each of two sessions, Flora and Fauna, we will strive to offer opportunity for authentic expression and cultivate wonder.

Session 1: Flora
Come into the garden! Children will work with their peers as well as in mixed age groups to create and nurture a living green-scape on our 5,000 square foot rooftop play place. Through designing, planting, and caretaking, children will explore the science of growth as well as themes of responsibility interwoven throughout the fabric of the day. Open to children with 2012-2014 birth years.

Session 2: Fauna
Who lives in a garden? Where do birds sleep at night? These and other questions taken from the children’s own musings and curiosities will be researched and explored during Session Two. As our garden comes into full swing, children will shift their attention to the creatures that call our green spaces home. Open to children with 2012-2014 birth years.

Transition Class (NEW!)
Our innovative transition class is ideal for children enrolled in our school for the Fall of 2017 and is open exclusively to children born in 2015. Our tailored approach focuses on the process of separation between child and caregiver in order to best prepare children for their first group experience away from home. Caregivers will join their children at the start of the summer and work together with the teacher to gradually lead their children toward independence at school. Children in this group will be offered music and art in their classroom weekly. Open to children born in 2015.
