Most of us grew up watching Elmer Fudd impotently chase after “that darn wabbit” Bugs and Road Runner hilariously outwitting Coyote. If you are dying to expose your kids to the classic Looney Tunes or just relive your own Saturday morning cartoon memories, BAMcinématek is presenting Chuck Amuck, a four-day tribute to the centennial of legendary American cartoonist Chuck Jones.
There will be rare screenings of Looney Tunes shorts in 35mm—29 cartoons in all, many including Brooklyn’s own Bugs Bunny.
From Friday, November 23 through Monday, November 26, BAMcinématek will show the Looney Tunes shorts in their original 35mm format—an extremely rare treat (a Jones showcase of this breadth has not screened in New York in at least a decade). Chuck Amuck also features as a handful of films that display the influence of Jones’ anarchic spirit on live-action directors.
Chuck Jones was the creator of Brooklyn’s own Flatbush-accented Bugs, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Marvin the Martian, and Pepé Le Pew.
