Election Day Bake Sales and School Drop Off Locations to Help Sandy Victims

November 5, 2012

Election Day Bake Sales are a tradition in NYC- it’s a way to raise money for the schools that are polling sites for the day. However, this year, these schools are looking outside of their own desperate budgetary needs and are donating some, if not all, of their bake sale funds to victims of Hurricane Sandy.  In addition, many of them are also accepting donations for other schools hard hit by the hurricane. So, bring your wallet and blankets, flashlights and diaper donations when you go to vote tomorrow!

Williamsburg and Greenpoint bake sales and donation center
The parents of Williamsburg and Greenpoint are baking with their kids to raise money to help hurricane relief efforts. Please stop by at the PS 84 or PS 110 polling sites on Election Day, drop off a baked good and/or purchase a baked good, and help us teach our kids how people come together to help each other.  PS 110 is also a donation center for food and supplies, so also bring anything you’d like to donate. All collections will go to the American Legion, which then will go directly to Rockaway and Breezy Point residents.
