I got this lovely email yesterday from a student at Hunter College Schools of Nursing and School of Social Work. She and some of her classmates have organized a food/child supplies drive to benefit Women In Need, a local non profit that provides a variety of services including free housing and job-training to single mothers and victims of domestic violence.
The students are collecting infant formula, diapers, baby food and canned food items appropriate for infants, children, and adults from now until Sunday, August 26th.
Their makeshift drop off location is a box at a student’s apartment in Carroll Gardens. The box will out at all times until Sunday, August 26th, so you can drop your donations off at any time.
The address is:
25 4th Place between Clinton and Henry St.
“*Women In Need (WIN) is a local non-profit that has worked tirelessly since 1982 to provide single mothers and victims of domestic violence with the information, support, and practical skills they need in order to become self-sufficient and achieve long-term financial stability. As nurses and social workers, we are reminded almost every day of the terrific need for organizations like WIN in our city. And as former WIN volunteers, we can attest to the sincerity and efficiency of the organization and it’s small but dedicated group of employees and volunteers. So we are reaching out to you, our neighbors, for help in supporting this amazing organization.”
