Brooklyn and Staten Island Battle For Books

July 17, 2012

Brooklyn and Staten Island have always been friendly, but this Friday night they will battle it out on the ball field, but all for a good cause.

The Brooklyn Cyclones and the Staten Island Yankees will take to the ball field in Coney Island to not only take home the winning trophy but to provide new books for Brooklyn kids in need.  Supporters who attend the game will receive a baseball cap and bobblehead, enjoy a run around the bases and the post-game fireworks.

First Book-Brooklyn, the Brooklyn chapter of the national nonprofit organization that provides new books to children in need across the country, has partnered with the Brooklyn Cyclones to host its premier summer fundraiser on Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m. at MCU Park in Coney Island.

To help spread the word about First Book-Brooklyn, its supporters are encouraged to wear First Book-Brooklyn t-shirts or hats, which are available here . Anyone sporting First Book-Brooklyn gear is entered into a raffle to win tickets to either Disney World or Disneyland.
