Free Concert Series Starts Tomorrow at Albee Square

July 27, 2011

Last month, Albee Square Public Plaza had a grand opening with live music all day long.  I didn’t go, but from the photos of the day, it looked well-attended and pretty fun. They announced that they are continuing the celebration with a whole series of summer concerts for kids starting tomorrow.

Thu, July 28 from 10:00am 11:00am: danna banana
danna banana, dubbed ‘best party entertainer’ by New York Magazine, is a singer by training and a kid at heart. He’s done shows in venues big and small all over this land, as well as parties for everyone from Annie Liebovitz to Ernie Anastos to Rosie O’Donnell.

Thu, August 11 from 10:00am 11:00am: Astrograss
ASTROGRASS FOR KIDS gets kids and their parents dancing together, with a unique blend of bluegrass music and down-home humor. Astrograss concerts feature sing-a-longs, dance contests, and high-energy fiddle hoedowns. Their original songs cover topics like spelling, whether Pluto is a planet, bedtime and the many neighborhoods of Brooklyn.

Thu, August 25 from 10:00am 11:00am: JahPan
Big event or small, every party is a festive and memorable occasion when Jah Pan is there. We’re widely acclaimed as the most exciting steel drum band this side of Trinidad – the land of steel drums and calypso music – with fabulous Caribbean musicians and a totally professional approach.

Albee Square is located at Fulton St and Bond St, accessible via 2, 3 (Hoyt St), 4, 5 (Nevins St), B, D, N, Q, R (Dekalb Ave), A, C, G (Hoyt-Schermerhorn St), and F (Jay St-MetroTech) subway lines.
