I have never been particularly crafty. I am just barely more capable than my two year old–at least I can use scissors. Nonetheless, I had an idea for a fun craft time inspired by the book Jennie’s Hat by Ezra Jack Keats. In the book, Jennie receives a plain hat as a gift while all around her she sees fabulous hats stacked high with flowers. Eventually, with the help of some birds, she transforms her hat into the most fabulous hat of all.
So, we were going to transform my daughters hat into a fantastic creation. I got out the scissors, flower wrapping paper, ribbons, tape, stickers, and yarn. It wasn’t so easy to get anything to stay on the hat! And my daughter needed a lot of help that I was not necessarily qualified to provide, but at least we got a couple of great pictures out of it.
