This week NYC public schools are closed for Election day so take the kids and enjoy Canstruction in Arts Brookfield, Election Day in Prospect Park and SkateFest at The Rink at Bank of America Winter Village in Bryant Park. Canstruction in Arts Brookfield (Battery Park City)
Daily 10a-8p until Tuesday November 14th & Wednesday November 15th 10a-6p.  Admission is free! If you’d like to contribute to Canstruction you can drop off non-perishable food items in the donation bin located at 230 Vesey, 2nd level. An extraordinary annual design competition and the most unique food charity in the world, Canstruction challenges 27 teams of architects, engineers, and contractors to build sculptures made entirely out of unopened cans of food. The large scale structures are placed on display and later donated to City Harvest for distribution to those in need. DDFPlay ~ Drop-In! at Downtown Dance Factory (Tribeca)
Mondays & Wednesdays 10a-12p Cost: $10/child/session** Time: 2 hours. Age: newborn to pre-K. Introducing DDFPlay! An indoor play space at Downtown Dance Factory for your baby – toddler – preschooler! DDFPlay is drop-In – No registration necessary. On Monday & Wednesday mornings, Downtown Dance Factory’s large sun-drenched studio is transformed into an indoor playground, complete with colorful mats, a fabulous ball pit, adventure-filled tunnels, wonderful books, building blocks, and fun ride-on toys …DDFPlay is a wonderful meet-up spot for parents & caregivers, and it’s a warm, clean and safe place for your child to play in the cold winter months. Stomp, Clap & Sing with Hopalong Andrew at the Park Slope Brooklyn Public Library
Mondays 330-415p until December 11th.  Free.  Join the fun with folk songs, cowboy tunes and other fun music sprinkled in. Sing, holler, and hoedown with Hopalong Andrew! C’mon down, y’hear!

Tuesday November 7th

Election Day in Prospect Park
Tuesday November 7th 12n-4p Some events free. Join Prospect Park Alliance this Election Day for nature programming and fun election activities. At 12n-3p there is Nature Exploration at the Prospect Park Audubon Center. Enjoy Bird Nerds Game Hour 1–2p, Nature on the Go! 2–3p, Animal Encounter 3-330p and Discovery Pack 12n-3p. Also check out Kids Vote Too! 12–4p at the Lefferts Historic House ($3 suggested donation). The Carousel is open 12–5p in the Children’s Corner ($2 per ride, $9 for a book of 5 tickets). SkateFest at The Rink at Bank of America Winter Village in Bryant Park
Tuesday November 7th 1-3p. Free. Free instruction from certified Learn to Skate USA Coaches. 2 Sessions: 1pm and 2pm. Skate rentals available. Walk- up registration begins at the rink 45 minutes prior to each session. Limited spots available. All ages and skill levels welcome.

French Storytime at Windsor Terrace Brooklyn Public Library

Wednesday November 8th

Moosiki’s Musical Pre-Crawlers at Busy Bodies (Clinton Hill)
Wednesdays 1245-115p. Drop in: $20. No class 11/22. In this musical playgroup for precrawling infants age 2-months-8 months, we do songs geared towards infant development, like moving arms and legs to encourage coordination, doing cross body activities, asl sign language, and more! We also use baby jam instruments to rock out the way only little babies can, and introduce a new instrument of the week each week. Come and make some moo-sic with us!

Tall Ships & Pirates Tales with Sciencetellers at the Leonard Brooklyn Public Library
Wednesday November 8th 4-5p. Free. Ahoy! People don’t just build on land. They build on water, too! Set sail with us on a thrilling action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a deserted island. Throughout the story, volunteers from the audience will help us explore the incredible science behind clouds, flash paper, air pressure, inertia, explosions and more. Don’t miss this refreshing nautical tale with a twist!

Therapy Dog at the Tompkins Square NY Public Library (East Village)
Wednesday November 8th & 29th 4-5p. Free. Meet Joan and her dog Bodie! Dogs can’t read but they sure are good listeners. Once upon a wag, there were specially trained therapy dogs wishing that a child would read them a story. And their wish came true at the Tompkins Square Library! Spend 15 minutes reading to Bodie on selected Wednesdays for each Month.

New & Expecting Parent Meet-Up at Tot Town (Crown Heights)
Thursdays 1-2p (no meet up 11/23). FREE For expecting & new parents w/ tots ages 0-12months. New & Expecting Parent Meet-Up with Doulas Abby Block and Anna Carapetyan. Come join Abby and Anna for discussions and support in your journey as a new parent. We’ll be creating an open and non-judgmental space for sharing, questions, stories, advice, and your joys and fears. Abby or Anna – who are both doulas, lactation counselors, and mothers – will facilitate a discussion and support. Come as you are and let’s create community. Music Room at the Jewish Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Mondays-Thursdays 1-4p & Sundays 12n-5p until November 23rd. Free with Museum admission. Kids can discover the music within at this hands-on exhibit at the Jewish Children’s Museum. Little music-makers of all ages are encouraged to experiment with a range of instruments, including a finger chime and a giant xylophone. They’ll particularly enjoy making all the noise they want (without fear of disturbing the neighbors) in the percussion center. Appropriate for all ages.

Tots Yoga: Walkers thru 3 + adult at Bend & Bloom Yoga (Park Slope/Gowanus)
Mondays, Wednesday & Fridays 10-1045a. $24 one child + one adult, $10 for each additional family member. $200 for 10 class pack, 6 month expiration. Mat rentals are included for all Tots + Family classes. Your babe will celebrate the wonders of mobility, communication, and independent exploration with you in this joyful class. Animated animal poses and imaginative games help toddlers to recognize (and eventually repeat!) patterns and tap their budding creativity. Our tot-centric poses improve motor coordination, cognitive development, and socialization while kids learn about the wonders of their body. For walkers up to 3 and a parent or caregiver.

Open Play at at Edamama Cute Cuts & More (Williamsburg)
Monday-Friday 1-330p.  $10/day. After a nap and lunch, but before bath and dinner, come to hang out and play with other 0-3 year olds at Edamama. Explore various award winning books or bring your own toy and play in a warm, safe, and enriching environment. Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Adult participation.

Drop-in Playspace at Recess (DUMBO)
Monday-Friday 9a-5p & Saturday-Sundays 9-1130a.  Drop in $30 first child, $20 per additional child.  Memberships also available for purchase. See website for details.  Hello! Welcome to Recess, where playtime is easy with our flexible drop-in model. Our custom-made play structures are designed for curious minds and busy bodies to explore. Learning is fun at Recess too. Our talented staff and variety of programming will help your children learn what they like and have a great time doing it.

The Little People Party at The Backyard (Williamsburg)
Monday-Friday 10a-5p.  All day pass $20, monthly membership $125 and 10 pack of all day passes $150.  Recommended for ages 6m-3y.  Open Play!  Toys, music, fun & a really big space!

MakerYard at Brooklyn Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Thursday & Fridays 2-5p and Saturdays-Sundays 11a-4p until November 26th except 11/23.  Free with Museum admission.  Inspired by adventure playgrounds, MakerYard, Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s newest exhibition, invites children to test their motor skills and imaginations as they construct, build, and invent structures and other creations using everyday materials such as cardboard, tape, fabric, string and recyclables. Parents and caregivers are invited to sit back and let children explore independently, or work collaboratively to create together.

Drop in Play at SPARK by Brooklyn Children’s Museum (DUMBO)
Wednesdays 1-5p, Thursday 1-6p (admission is free Thursdays) and Fridays-Sunday 1-5p. $15/child. (BCM Passport Members enjoy free admission). Each day at SPARK, kids can: BUILD IT! Design your own structures in our popular exhibit Brooklyn Block Lab. MAKE IT! Creativity abounds in our art activities that change each week. TOUCH IT! Get cozy in our Discovery Den featuring soft play and reading space, and a series of discovery drawers that hold treasures from our collection as well as tactile materials for little hands to explore.

Ed Center in Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5p and also Saturdays and Sundays from 1–5p. Free. The Ed Center is open for free, drop-in hours three afternoons a week! Get to know Brooklyn Bridge Park with our 250 gallon aquarium filled with critters from the East River, a 10’ scale model of Brooklyn Bridge Park, crafts, a reading corner, and much more!
