Monday April 3rd

Library Lab: Paper Helicopters at the Dyker Brooklyn Public Library
Monday April 3rd 330-430p.  Free.  Simple aerodynamics experiment with exciting results!  Library Lab is Brooklyn Public Library’s dynamic learning enrichment program for children (ages 6  to 10) and their families.  Explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts with fun, free activities that will spark curiosity through hands-on experiments.  Families will receive tips on how to use library resources and how to continue projects at home.

Bilingual Birdies: Mandarin at the 53rd Street NYPL (Midtown West)
Mondays 4p until April 24th.  Free. Ages newborn to 6 years old. Hola! Bonjour! Ni Hao! Families will enjoy 45 fun-filled minutes this Winter as they learn Spanish, French, or Mandarin all through live music. Teachers play guitar and sing with the children as they learn new vocabulary through music, movement, and puppetry! Bilingual Birdies will be exploring themes including Farm Animals, Jungle Animals, Colors, and Transportation this winter. They provide instruments and props for the children to use as well as a free CD download of their original music for all parents and librarians to keep the learning going throughout the week.

Community Dance Class at BRIC House Ballroom (Fort Greene)
First Mondays 630-8p until June 5th.  Free.  Enter on Rockwell Place.  All ages and skill levels are welcome to join us for a series of Community Dance Classes taught by Ronald K. Brown and members of his company, Evidence, A Dance Company.  Evidence, A Dance Company blends traditional African dance with contemporary choreography and spoken word providing a unique view of human struggles, tragedies, and triumphs. These Community Classes, accessible for all ages and skill levels, are rooted in the Company’s fusion aesthetic and are the perfect alternative to another boring day at the gym. Come discover the joy of dance! No previous experience necessary.

French-English Storytime at the Carroll Gardens Brooklyn Public Library
Tuesdays 1015-1045a until May 9th.  Free.  Join us for stories and songs in French for children and their parents or caregivers.  Rejoignez-nous pour des histoires et des chansons en français pour les enfants et leurs parents ou tuteurs.

Little Feet Yoga at Monkey Do! Yoga (Gowanus)
Tuesdays 3-345p.  Drop in $20.  Great for crawlers to four years.  Little bodies love to move and learn about the world around them! This class is a great introduction to the world of yoga geared for kids moving in the world. We’ll read books and integrate yoga poses, learn songs, play games, play with sound and quiet, develop the art of savasana or rest pose and plant the seeds of mindfulness in little bodies and minds! So much to learn and explore- join us!

UniverSoul Circus at Aviator Sports and Events Center
Tuesday-Friday April 4th-7th 1030a & 7p.  Tickets start at $16 for day performance & $20 for evening. UniverSoul Circus is ongoing at various times until Sunday April 16th.  See website for details. UniverSoul Circus is a highly interactive combination of circus arts, theater, and music. Under the single ring big top circus arts, theater and music come together as one. UniverSoul Circus embraces and celebrates the unique and familiar aspects of urban pop culture globally by bringing them center stage with a cast of international performers that reflect the cultural diversity of the world in which we live. Tinkergarten Free Trial Class in Prospect Park
Wednesday April 5th 1030-1145a.  Free.  Location: 3rd Street.  At Tinkergarten, nature is our classroom. Children make messes, experiment and investigate readily, and in turn, develop essential learning skills! Sign up for a free trial to see what Tinkergarten is all about.  In this free trial class, Tinkergarten Leader, Dawn Manzo, will facilitate an expert-designed play scenario, allowing children of various ages and needs to explore, problem solve, communicate, collaborate, and create together. Parents and caregivers learn, too, as we’ll share insight into your child’s development.  This trial class is: Designed for children ages 18 months-5 years. Child/children are accompanied by an adult. Siblings of any other age are most welcome.  Limited to the first 15 families who register.  Kids may get a bit messy (Hurrah!), so please send them in clothing that can get dirty.  We start the class at the specified location, but may end within a reasonable walk from that location.

ArchForKids presents Live Green! Make a Sustainable Village at Bushwick Brooklyn Public Library
Wednesday April 5th 330-430p.  Free.  Design and construct an entire village designed to live in harmony with the earth’s environment.

Balloon Sculpting at the Hudson Park NYPL
Wednesday April 5th 4p.  Free.  Balloon artist to mingle and make quick and impressive balloon art for kids. Best for ages 4 to 12 years old.  Presented by Annette Lipson.

12-36 Month Play Group at Tot Town (Prospect Heights/Crown Heights)
Thursday 10a-12n.  $15 per child/ $5 sibling surcharge.  Max group size 15 ~ Included in Tot Town membership.  Age specific guided open play, learning and socialization. Kids build crucial developmental skills thru open play and interaction. Tot Town is equipped with a wide variety of toys games and activities to support a child’s development.  Kids and caregivers have open access to Tot Town’s bright, fun, stimulating and spacious environment during group time.

Transit Tots at New York Transit Museum (Downtown Brooklyn)
Thursdays 1015-11a.  Free with admission.  For ages 2-5y with adult companions.  Stories, games and surprises for our youngest transportation fans!

Musical Instrument Building with Bash the Trash! at the Greenpoint Brooklyn Public Library
Thursday April 6th 330-430p.  Free.  Join us for fun and cool instrument-building session where you can touch, feel and experiment with vibrations and sound! This hands-on experience solidifies science concepts in the Library Bash! program, using recycled and reused materials (“trash”) to build cool musical instruments.

Ongoing Events

ARTech: Adventures In Art + Techchnology (Meatpacking District)
Wednesdays-Thursdays 3-7p and Saturdays-Sundays 10a-5p until April 29th. Free and open to the public. RSVP is required for a timed entry slot. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. The Meatpacking Business Improvement District (BID) is proud to invite you to experience ARTech: Adventures in Art + Technology! ARTech is a two-month long pop-up activity center comprised of STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) experiential workshops, installations, and interactive moments for school age children + their accompanying adults. Note: Each attendee is allowed 1 hour within the space to engage with the various stations. A 15 minute warning announcement will be announced before leaving the space. Opening of the Carousel (Prospect Park)
Thursdays-Sundays 12n-5p starting Aprils 1st.  $2 per ride, $9 for a book of 5 tickets.  Kick off spring with a ride on the Park’s beautiful 102 year-old carousel.  Located in the Park’s “Children’s Corner,” the Carousel features 51 magnificently carved horses, a lion, a giraffe, a deer, and two dragon-pulled chariots. Carved in 1912 by Charles Carmel, one of the foremost carousel designers of the time, and restored by the Prospect Park Alliance in 1990, the Carousel promises that classic summertime amusement will be available for generations of fun. In addition, the Prospect Park Carousel is one of the few in the world that is wheelchair accessible.

Playgroup at Bija Kids (Clinton Hill)
Monday-Thursday until May 4th 330-5p. For ages 1-3y. *No playgroup April 6th, April 10-13th. Spots are available on a first come, first served basis. Playgroup has a capacity of 15 families. $15/drop in (space permitting). NEWLY REENVISIONED Bija Playgroup is an introduction to Bija curriculum for our youngest participants – ages 1-3 years. Each session includes guided free play in our beautiful classroom space with puzzles, blocks, dough, dramatic play and art materials as well as a teacher led activity. Our approach is interactive and joyful and we pride ourselves on creating an environment conducive to learning in fun and engaging ways. Sign up for one or more days a week or drop in (space permitted). Parent or caregiver participation required. Playgroup is a perfect introduction to our drop off programs, preschool and camp. Mondays: Movement and Music, Tuesdays: Visual Art, Wednesdays: Interactive Storytelling and Thursdays: Sensory Play.

The Princess, The Emperor and the Duck at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre (Central Park)
Tuesday-Fridays 1030a & 12n and Saturdays & Sundays 1p until September 17th. Tickets are $8/children and $12/adults. A modern retelling of three classic Han Christian Andersen tales. Set in Africa, China and our own Central Park, The Princess, The Emperor, and The Duck retells storyteller Hans Christian Andersen’s world-famous fairy tales — The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor’s New Clothes and The Ugly Duckling — bringing the Theatre to life with new marionettes and hand painted scenery. Guided by a narrating Owl, audience members fly into each story with the original tales that teach important life lessons still relevant to children today.

Drop in Play at SPARK by Brooklyn Children’s Museum (DUMBO)
Wednesdays 1-5p, Thursday 1-6p (admission is free Thursdays) and Fridays-Sunday 1-5p. $15/child. (BCM Passport Members enjoy free admission). Each day at SPARK, kids can: BUILD IT! Design your own structures in our popular exhibit Brooklyn Block Lab. MAKE IT! Creativity abounds in our art activities that change each week. TOUCH IT! Get cozy in our Discovery Den featuring soft play and reading space, and a series of discovery drawers that hold treasures from our collection as well as tactile materials for little hands to explore.

Open Play at NURTURE{BKLYN} (Windsor Terrace)
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 930-1130a & Tuesdays & Thursdays 4-530p until April 14th (they are moving). $10/drop in. Class packs also available. Unstructured indoor open play and socializing for babies & toddlers in a bright and cozy space that has all the comforts of home. We offer several play areas for children as well as a cozy space for you to relax and have a cup of tea or coffee while your child explores and socializes. Child-led play, parent/caregiver supervised.

Play Space Spring Schedule at Juguemos a Cantar (South Slope)
M-F 9a-12n and 330-530p until April 28th (no PM session April 10th-18th). $12 per visit / Sibling $3 per visit. There is no registration required for Drop-In Sessions. You can enjoy our playspace as a DROP IN (pay as you come), with our PLAY PASSES (pre-pay visits), or have a MEMBERSHIP (unlimited visits for 1 month). Juguemos a Cantar Drop-In Play Space offers a social learning environment that includes exploration and interaction for kids 0 to 4y. A large, clean, well-equipped, airy indoor play area full of fun, music, a play kitchen, blocks, trains, doll houses, working bench, tools, puppets, soft play area, ball pit, books, craft table, & more. Monday: Singalong with Damian & his drums (Spanish & English) 1015a, Tuesday: Singalong with Ivan & his drums 1015a, Wednesday: Singalong with Ale (Spanish/English) 1015a, Thursday: Singalong with Tucker 1015a and Friday: Sing Along with Andrew from Rolie Polie Guacamole Band (English) 1030a.

Tots Drop in Center at Congregation Beth Elohim (Park Slope)
Tuesdays-Fridays 915a-12p until April 7th, 2017. Please note: the drop in center will be closed on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Fees: Temple Member $10/child, $15 with additional sibling. Non-member $12/child, $18 with additional sibling. Visit Passes also available for purchase. See website for more information. For ages birth through 24 months. All children are accompanied by their adult. Parents, caregivers, and children come together to discover, learn and have fun! The Drop-In Center is held in our Social Hall, which becomes a large indoor play space with age-appropriate toys and activities. The program is coordinated by an early childhood facilitator.

Open Play & Activities at Recess (DUMBO)
Monday-Thursday 9a-530p, Friday 9a-5p and Saturday-Sundays 9a–1130a*. Drop in $30 first child, $20 per additional child. Memberships/play packs also available for purchase. (Please also bring socks for kids and adults). At Recess, we understand the value of flexibility and convenience. Your kids may come in and play anytime during our scheduled play hours. We’re ready when you are! Recess offers free weekly classes for members and drop-ins! Recess Story Time (0 – 3 yrs), Monday at 11a & Tuesday at 3p. Recess Craft (6 mos – 3 yrs),Thursdays at 230p. *Weekend afternoons are reserved for birthday parties.

Twinkle Playspace (Williamsburg)
Monday-Friday 10a–6p and Saturday-Sunday 8a-1130a. First Time Pass – $25 (only for the first time). $35 for additional visits. Memberships also available. Located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Twinkle’s 4500 square foot play space has innovative custom-made exhibits to cater to any child’s wildest imagination. These special exhibits, designed for the under 6 crowd, are a harmonious blend of urban life and nature that encourages the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of a child in an accessible, high-quality learning environment. Twinkle hosts open play 7 days a week and children can also have an unforgettable birthday with exclusive use of our playspace! So drift away and enjoy the ride with your child in this magical journey to a world of infinite discoveries and treasured moments. Twinkle is a socks-only environment so please keep this in mind for children and adults entering the playspace. Parental supervision is required at all times, no drop-offs allowed. Parking is available under the BQE (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway) which is only a block away from us as well as street parking.

Toddler Open Play at Prospect Gymnastics (Flatbush/Ditmas Park)
Mondays & Wednesdays 10a-12n, Tuesdays 1-3p, Thursdays 10a-12n & Sundays 3-5p. Note: week of 2/20-2/26 there is only Open Play on Sunday the 26th. $15/single drop in, $100 10 class pass. Open playtime for toddlers 4 and under. Parental supervision required.

Open Play at Curiosity on Court (Cobble Hill)
Monday-Friday 10a-6p & Saturday-Sunday 9a-6p. Open Play drop-in: $25 per child, $45 for 2 siblings, $6- for 3 siblings. Weekday monthly passes and pass packages also available. Welcome to Curiosity on Court, a world of energy busting excitement! Our custom designed play structures and exhibits were created to raise the curiosity and fuel the imagination of kids 1–10 yrs old. Whether they’re conquering our climbing wall, taking a ride on the subway, making connections on the magnetic wall or finding their route through our multi-level play structure, there’s hours of fun for everyone. Ed Center in Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5p and also Saturdays and Sundays from 1–5p. Free. The Ed Center is open for free, drop-in hours three afternoons a week! Get to know Brooklyn Bridge Park with our 250 gallon aquarium filled with critters from the East River, a 10’ scale model of Brooklyn Bridge Park, crafts, a reading corner, and much more!
