Weekly Events: Free Trial Classes, The Muppet Movie, Nutrition 101, and More!
To kick-off the week, we discovered a slew of cool things for you to do with your kids. We are really excited about the viewing of The Muppet Movie And Henson And Oz at Cobble Hill Cinemas where Matt Zoller Seitz (the filmaker of the movie) as well as view some behind-the-scenes footage about the puppeteers, writers and filmmakers. This week you can also check out some trial classes at Kick & Play, a movement and soccer program for parents and toddlers and at City Kids Dance for their superhero class. There is also a great volunteer tree planting event through MillionTreesNYC at Marine Park and a Nutrition 101 course at the Metropolitan Recreation Center. Kick & Play Demo Class
Kick and Play, a movement and soccer program for parents and toddlers is having a trial class for kids up to 24 months old. The class will teach about interactive play, stretching, throwing, kicking, running and jumping. New Puppet Play Group
Puppetry is quite an incredible art that kids of all ages love! Liz Joyce, performer and musician, established puppet playgroups in Sag Harbor at Goat on a Boat that she is now bringing to Brooklyn at the Clockwork Puppet Theater. This 8-week course, taught by Liz, will include music, interactive games and a puppet show with Minkie, the monkey. Babies and Books at the Central Library
A fun way to bond with your baby and meet new parents is through the Babies and Books program at the Brooklyn Public Library. This free event is targeted for babies 0 to 18 months and includes readings from children’s books, songs and rhymes. Pick up a ticket at the Children’s Reference Desk on the morning of the program. We reported last week that our favorite resale shop Still Hip is closing Until the end of the month, you can still enjoy their playgroups. Participants are simply asked to help set up and clean up the space, but there will always be someone in the store to help. The Muppet Movie And Henson And Oz: Never Before, Never Again
As a part of the Big Movies for Little Kids Series, this feature-length musical adventure will be a hit with children of all ages. The movie will be introduced by Matt Zoller Seitz, the filmmaker of the movie and it will also include a behind-the-scenes short documentary about the puppeteers, writers and filmmakers. Free Super Hero Demos by City Kids Dance
Do you have a superhero nut? Try out this new class that lets boys and girls shake out their super hero moves. Kids will jump (small buildings), leap, web-sling, run and dance while imagining they are their favorite superheroes. Super Girls, Batman’s, Spiderman’s and Wonder Women are all encouraged to come to the free demo that will let them all explore their superhero identities, powers and attitudes.
